Manchester united 0 – 2 PSG
Manchester united felt the force of their French counterparts as they went ahead force a 2 – 0 win at Old Trafford.
PSG had an unusual front line of Angel Di-maria, Mbappe and Dani Alves due to the absence of their two front-liners Neymar Jr and Edision Cavani who are out due to injury.
The first half of the match was rather less active as the two teams hardly pose treats to their goal posts.
Manchester united made early substitutions one coming just at the end of the first half when Lingard came off due to injury and was replaced by Alexis Sanchez another came immediately after the First half break, Martial was replaced by Juan Mata.
United were dominated in the second half, and it was their old boy Angel Di Maria, booed by the home fans as so few are when they return to Old Trafford, who was the standout in the array of stars in the PSG team. He created both goals in a seven minute spell leading up to the hour for first Presnel Kimpembe and then Kylian Mbappe and after a first half that was relatively even it did feel that PSG were playing football of a different kind.
The first goal of the night came at the second half by a perfectly taking corner-kick from Di-maria which flipped pass united players in the box and kicked in by Presnel Kimpembe.
Not long after that Mbappe made a run with the ball after a nice setup from Angel di-maria to give give PSG their second of the night.
United tried to get back into the game with more pressure on PSG and creating more chances but no reasonable attempt was made.
The ending of the game brought more frustration for united as Paul Pogba got his second Yellow card of the game and got sent off by the Referee for a foul committed on Dani Alves. Thought to many it seemed like a collision between the two players but the officials didn’t see it that way.
This means Pogba is set to miss the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, which is to be played in France his country.
