Dragun fires as Lacazette sees red
BATE record a historic win over Arsenal as Dragun’s header separates the two sides. The Gunners started brightly, but after spurning a couple of early chances BATE grew into the game and capitalised on a set-piece on the stroke of half-time to get ahead.
Arsenal just couldn’t create enough clear-cut opportunities in the second period and matters were made worse as Lacazette was sent off for elbowing his man with five minutes of normal time to go.
Emery will hope for a much-improved performance in the return leg at the Emirates in what is arguably the club’s most important competition this season.
It’s not under relying for many to think and believe Arsenal to have a great game against BATE Borisov in their Europa League round of 32 tie.
The Belarusian side played against Arsene Wenger’s Gunners last year and were outmatched, losing their home group stage game 4-2, and then got smoked in London by a 6-0 scoreline.
To make matters worse for the London club, Alexandre Lacazette saw red in the 85th minute, meaning the star man will miss out on the second leg.
The French man had a potential equaliser ruled out for offside before he was shown a straight red card foe throwing an elbow at Aleksandar Filipovic in the closing minutes.
The is still hope for Gunners as this is just the first leg of the Tie, and it is still likely they will turn around the deficit when the sides meet in London next week.
