Frenkie de Jong, who will officially join FC Barcelona at the end of the season, recently had his first interview with the Spanish giants, in which he admitted to feeling “emotional” after being asked about superstar Lionel Messi.
In January, the Catalan club announced the signing of Ajax Amsterdam’s De Jong for a fee of around €75 million (R1.1 billion).
The 21-year-old will begin life in Spain after the 2018/19 campaign, but that has not stopped him from thinking of the future. Asked about his excitement to play next to Messi, the Netherlands international passionately praised the Argentine.
“I feel emotional,” he told the club’s official website.
“I can’t wait to play with him. He’s the best player of all time. He’s the most complete.
“He can do everything, with or without the ball. He creates so many opportunities and has an incredible left foot.
“He’s so intelligent. he’s on another level.”
He said Messi is the most important player in La Liga history. and Ronaldo shouldn’t be compared to Messi.
De Jong joined Ajax from Willem II in 2016 and has represented the Amsterdam-based club on 71 occasions.
